Did you know the current thermal images are based on technology that was originally developed for the military? On Feb. 11, 1800, astronomer Sir William Herschel was searching for optical filter material to reduce the brightness of the sun’s image in telescopes during solar observation. The first heat-picture became possible in 1840, the result of work by Sir John Herschel. The growth of thermal in the security industry is only in its infancy stages. With the need and desire to improve video surveillance and the ever-increasing application for the system analytics, thermal is here to stay.

Coaxial cable is considered by most an old-school transmission media. Coaxial cable has served the CCTV industry very well for the majority of its current technological lifetime. But the future of physical cables is fiber optics. Fiber optics has thousands of times the bandwidth of copper wire and carry signals hundreds of times further before needing a repeater.

Remember, the success of any surveillance system is only as good as its lifeline, may it be coax or fiber optics. Choose the one the fits your budget and security solution.

To effectively analyze overall perimeter security choices it helps to divide security components into 4 major categories: access, detection, prevention and conviction. New technologies have brought improvements in range detections while rapidly decreasing overall system cost. There is an obvious tradeoff between operational benefits and costs regarding the implementation into your facility or business.

With the most recent innovations in solar wireless IP video security camera options, the inclusion of remote cameras around your perimeter is a viable, cost-effective option not previously available.

A few examples of what virtual can bring to your business are as follows:

Guard Tours – conducted on a predetermined schedule or on an as-needed basis, video patrols can detect unwanted behavior, detect vulenarabilities, and use a microphone to deter or for announcements.

Chaperones - for escorting your staff from one are to another, verifying the site is all clear in advance, and conducting announcing information until help arrives.

Doorman services – can remotely verify a person or vehicle’s identity prior to permitting access to a facility. We can then remotely release a door or a gate to manage the ingress.
