Because they typically clipped to a vehicle’s sun visor, they could be easily misplaced, lost, loaned, or stolen by opportunistic thieves, compromising security. They could also be rather expensive depending on the specific technology involved.
That’s why BAI created its BA-440 DualBeam Barcode Reader and associated barcode decals. In addition to remaining firmly connected to a single car or truck and proving far less expensive, they’re also automated, which greatly reduces the daily strain placed on security personnel.
The BA-440 DualBeam Barcode Reader is a standalone scanner that can function in temperatures ranging from -22 to 130 Fahrenheit. With dimensions of 12.0” x 10.3” x 6.4”, it serves as a low-profile addition to your current security setup, requiring no more than 24” of distance between the installation position and the target vehicle.
Using DualBeam technology, the BA-440 outputs a 658nM CDRH Safety Class II laser that can detect credentials even in the most extreme weather conditions. That includes dust, sand, snow, and rain, including conditions that are up to 100 percent humidity. You won’t have to worry about long queue times, either. The BA-440 can process one vehicle every quarter of a second, which facilitates orderly processing in high-traffic areas.
Durable and easily repairable, the BA-440 carries a 5-year performance guarantee, and users that regularly maintain the scanner can expect a useful life of more than a decade.
